While athletes flying over the course, rushing through the transition zone and haveing tears of joy in their eyes at the finish line, they are close at hand: the presenters of the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon. They are the ones transporting emotions to the audience, entertaining and providing information. A very special job, the organizers of the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon are searching a young talent this year for.

German Radio presenter Bernd-Uwe Gutknecht and triathlon world champion Daniel Unger will be the celebrity presenters in 2019, accompanying the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon on the microphone. Well-known presenters have a long traditionand at the Chiemsee, offering Pros and Age-Group athletes a perfect setting. TV presenters Hartwig Thöne and Annika Zimmermann, radio presenter Marion Schieder, triathlon presenter Till Schenk – big names. And you’ll get the chance to learn from the best, as a junior presenter at the Eberl Chiemsee Triathlon.

Apply for presenting at the Bike-Hotspot
The town passage Chieming is the hotspot. Hundreds of spectators gather here, cheering the athletes onto the bike course, into the next loop, or towards the transition zone. Right here you can prove your presenter-qualities. From the balcony of the Eiseria you’ll have the overview and you’ll keep the audience up to date.

“Sounds so simple, but infact it is not,” laughs Sport1 presenter Hartwig Thöne. “In order not to lose track, your triathlon-knowledge needs to be good and you need to be prepared. Checking timing-lists and talking at the same time requires a maximum of concentration. Then, the job is not just an hour, but a whole day long,” he explains. However, he smiles: “But when the audience cheer and get excited, that’s just fantastic and will leave you with goose bumps!”

If you are familiar with triathlon, have time on the 29th and 30th of June and if you are eloquent, please contact us at info@wechselelszene.com. Write us your experience with triathlo and why you should become our junior presenter.

As usual, our swimming partner Aqua Sphere will be on site at the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon. The German wetsuit experts will provide you with a wetsuit, if you need. After all, the Chiemsee can be quite chilly and a wetsuit might be even mandatory. If you’d like to swim an Aqua Sphere suit, you have to book your model in advance.

The rental fee is 25 euros. Should you decide to buy the neo after the event, you will even be credited with it!
You can pick up your wetsuit on Saturday at the Aqua Sphere booth (near the event tent and finish area) and return it there on Sunday. For security reasons, you will have to deposit your ID there.

This year, the organizers will take the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon to a new level. They presented the innovations at their recent press conference. “All our projects are only possible thanks to our very strong old and new partners,” said organizer Sven Hindl. Two major innovations await athletes and fans at the Triathlon Festival (June 27th – 30th) in and around Chieming: The “Mixed Team Relay” will be held for the first time on Saturday, besides the already established sprint distance. Three athletes will race in each team of the Mixed Team Relay. Unlike regular triathlon relay competitions, here has to be least one woman part of the team and everyone in the trio has to complete all three disciplines. “In 2020 the Team Relay format will be Olympic for the first time. We are proud to already presenting it at the Chiemsee,” Hindl says. The distances with 0.2km swimming, 6.5km cycling and 1.9km running are short and anyone can do it.

In addition, “The Race” is part of a new multi-sport series: the Spirit Tri Series. Besides the Bavarian race it includes further traditional races such as the Triathlon Portocolom, which was held in Mallorca a few weeks ago, and marked the start of the series, the TIME Alpe d’Huez triathlon in France (25 July) and the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon in Austria (25th of August). “The EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon was included in our plans right from the beginning – and actually, for us, there was no alternative in Germany,” said Tom Sutton, who coordinates the series. With him, the two top triathletes Daniela Ryf, the four-time Ironman Hawaii World Champion, and Olympic champion Nicola Spirig have initiated the series. Six Spirit-teams, packed with professionals, will be racing the series. In future, even more teams are planned, Sutton said on the Freya.

The triathlon festival will kick off with the company run Chiemgau (Thu., June 27) again. For the Sprint Distance and the Mixed Team Relay on Saturday there are a few slots left. The two main competitions over the olympic (1.5 / 40/10 km) and the half distance (2/80/20 km) are both fully booked already.

Hindl also announced that the environmental protection concept, which has been successfully established at the Chiemgau Team Trophy, will be transferred to triathlon. “We have set ourselves the goal of giving up a lot of plastic – and thanks to our partners like Aquasphere, Petrusquelle and Wieninger Bräu we can do it,” he announced. Our swim caps, for example, are specially delivered without plastic covers. “That alone avoids 1,500 sachets.” For the aid stations at the course a reusable cup system was developed together with partner Petrusquelle. An average of plastic 7,000 cups will be avoided.

The region is also satisfied with the development of the EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon. “The flair of the triathlon is very nice. The triathlon family brings many people to Chieming which feels special,” rejoices Christian Fitzner, director of the Chieming Tourist Info. “Swimming, cycling, running are things that fit the Chiemsee.”

Spirit Multisport has today announced plans for the formation of a European Long Distance Triathlon Series, consisting of iconic triathlon events across four countries.

The unique series, featuring contracted professional athletes, increased prize money pools, international coaching seminars, as well as the opportunity for age group athletes to earn points across the series, will see athletes racing in spectacular and challenging locations.

Billed as the ‘World’s Toughest Long Distance Tri Series’, the series calendar will consist of four of Europe’s most historic and prestigious triathlon events:
14 April, 2019 – International Triathlon Portocolom, Mallorca, Spain
30 June, 2019 – EBERL Chiemsee Triathlon, Germany
25 July, 2019 – TIME Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, France
25 August, 2019 – TRANS Vorarlberg Triathlon, Austrian National Championships

Spirit Multisport CEO, Tom Sutton, said: “Our goal is to provide a real alternative to the current long distance triathlon offerings – delivering higher quality, unique race formats and distances that triathletes can plan their seasons around.

“We’re extremely proud to partner with events that have long established reputations for safety, fairness and professionalism, as well as a shared vision for the future of the sport.”

Spirit Co-Founder and triathlon Olympic Gold and Silver medallist, Nicola Spirig, said: “As someone who has trained with long distance athletes throughout my career, I have always appreciated the amount of hard work and sacrifice required from those age group and professionals to race at their best.”

“We are very excited to work with events that will be professional, but also represent the core values of triathlon, such as inclusiveness, improved lifestyle through sport and fun.”

The series will hold an official press conference at the International Portocolom Triathlon event in April, and will be releasing details on major sponsorship and partnership initiatives over the coming months.
